Got some peer feedback on the dragon head from the last post and, though it was well liked, I felt that people were drawing too many associations with well known designs out there. That equals derivative. Hard to avoid these days, but I thought I'd try. I'm actually really happy with this second iteration and am looking forward to taking it further.

Duuuump Cont...

3D DUuuuuuUMP!

For a while, my friends at work have been asking about what I've been working on at home and I've been putting off posting because none of it is really done. I'm a chronic starter and reluctant finisher when it comes to personal stuff. I am resolved however, to take everything seen here to completion before starting any new 3D work. There, I said it on the internet. Can't take it back.
Anyway, here it is. Just remember, none of it is done.

Ganon!

Ranks very high in my video game villain favourites. This is a progress shot as I add a body and tweak design on an old painting of this guy. Lots to do still.

Some seriously loose stuff.

Rendering exercise. I checked a couple pics of Ed Harris and Russel Crowe at a late stage because his eyes were looking weird.

Before bed quickie......umm.

Was looking at this artist Mark Behm's stuff and got inspired to try his technique. Didn't really turn out like his work, but I don't mind the end product. Kinda looks like an old Jason Schwartzman

Makin' it work, takes a little longer...

Did the head on the left in under an hour from a sphere in Zbrush. Turned out well, so I thought I'd transfer it over to a functional basemesh with eyeballs and a real mouth. It took a little time using the move brush and the Zproject brush, but now it's nearly a tenth of the polygons and animate-able. I'm free to really refine it. Woo!

Now you've gone and done it. Helicopter kick's on its way...

ZBRUSH...fo real.

Gotten way more into Zbrush. I thought I should do the standard male and female busts in a realistic style. I learned a lot about the human face having to think in 3d about it AND it was fun by gar!

CUH-LUHS!

Trying a little bit of a different working method. Starting with colour rather than grayscale values to see if I can get richer results.
