Wha Huppened?

Well, Ubisoft Vancouver has done gone and shut down, so I got some time on my hands to beef up the ol' portfolio. I'm using Carbonmade which I am actually loving. I may even spring for the paid version.
Here's the link and here's some stuff I'll be finishing up.

Worked a little more on this head. I have dubbed this guy Broad Face Man. I've been kind of thinking he's the head of a Turkish drug cartel.

Karaoke?

S'possible he might be partaking in a little vocal tomfoolery. Why not, why not...
Anyway, I took a break from 3d tonight and indulged in some vapid monster making. Maybe I'll give him some sort of twist later to make him little more interesting. Why not, why not...
UPDATE! Still not done obviously, but I thought I'd chuck this on there to show a little process.

Flat colours

Not sure why I like this, but I do...for now.

Yesterday I finally plucked up the nerve to post some stuff on CGHub, my favourite site for inspirational artwork. I had been reluctant to post earlier because I wanted to have a body of work that would create a SENSATION. Work that people would gasp at and scramble to save in their inspiration folder, bookmark and send to friends. But what I came to realize is that I'd never do it if that was the bar I set. There would always be something not quite ready and in the meantime I'd be missing out on all that valuable feedback and exposure.
So, I picked out a modest amount of pieces and uploaded them to a gallery. The next morning I was shocked to discover one of those pieces was on the front page as an Editor's Pick. A little splash after all. It meant a lot to me and has encouraged me to get myself out there more.
There were a couple questions regarding process on the piece selected so I put together a little breakdown. It's a pretty sloppy way to go at something like this, but hopefully somewhat interesting. Thanks CGHub!

Trying out a rendering technique I saw on the Art Center blog.
